BEYOND GREEN

High performance living.

The building science used in a StalwartBuilt home incorporates high performance green technology within a system-built process. The result is a healthier, energy-efficient living environment that not only meets the high "green" standards of LEED, but also includes the other attributes that make StalwartBuilt homes—Beyond Green.

light bulb icon ENERGY AND EFFICIENCY

The Stalwart building envelope is designed for durability with an extremely airtight seal to help prevent mold, control indoor air quality and minimize the energy needed to heat and cool.

100% water-blown, formaldehyde-free spray foam insulation helps keep the relative humidity in the home between 35% and 50% - which helps eliminate the chance of mold, and minimizes the growth of mildew, dust mites and other allergens.

Closed, unvented attic assembly with foam insulation on the underside of the roof deck, the frame walls and sealing soffit vents, reduces air conditioning load and lowers utility costs 5-10%.

High quality, reflective metal roofing with overhangs provides an annual cooling energy reduction of 11% to 26%. Metal roofing also typically lasts 2 to 3 times longer than asphalt or wood shingles.

ENERGY STAR Low E glass reduces UV damage and heat gain through windows and doors, saving energy.

ENERGY STAR qualified geo-thermal HVAC units utilize the earth’s constant underground temperature for heating and cooling—using about 30% less energy than a standard heat pump. Free hot water during cooling months is provided by a de-superheater connected to the geo-thermal unit to redirect heat taken from the home, Programmable thermostats (Honeywell Vision Pro IAQ) also save energy—and about $150 a year.

ENERGY STAR qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models.

ENERGY STAR Lighting features Compact Fluorescent Lighting in all fixtures except fluorescents and produces about 75% less heat than standard lighting.

Net-zero solar-ready for full or partial energy generation means a StalwartBuilt home is engineered with interior chases to enable no-hassle installation of photovoltaic systems by a qualified PV installer in the future.

Automated home options can monitor your home while you’re away, turn on lights for you before you come home, or adjust your thermostat automatically.

Smart breakers turn off selected circuits when not in use and reduce “phantom loads.”

Whole House Surge Protection relieves the worry of lightning, utility grid switching and other sources that destroy appliances, computers and entertainment systems.

Moen water-saving showerheads and faucets are standard and along with water conserving toilets, they reduce overall domestic water consumption, water heating demands and wastewater treatment loads.

Home Energy Rating System (HERS) independently rates the overall energy consumption and estimates annual energy costs. After inspection a computerized rating is given to the homebuyer or lender. StalwartBuilt homes are HERS rated to show the wide range of energy saving and management features.

clean air icon AIR QUALITY

Fresh air ventilation brings in outside air, filters it, and distributes it to make up for air lost through exhaust fans. Slight, positive air pressure created inside helps ensure that outdoor pollutants and allergens are kept out.

50 cfm Energy Star bath exhausts and 100 cfm kitchen exhausts ensures moist air removal to the outdoors.

The Central De-Humidification System is designed for each specific climate zone to extract excess moisture.

Honeywell F-100 high performance media filters are 40 times more effective at capturing airborne particles than the standard 1-inch filter. In fact, a StalwartBuilt home boasts an interior air quality that is 98% allergen-free, making it the healthy choice for those who suffer from allergies, asthma or chemical sensitivity.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors (1 per floor) save lives by alerting homeowners to the presence of the odorless, colorless, toxic gas.

Non-toxic environments are another “systems-built” benefit. Low VOC paints, ceramic tile or sustainable bamboo are all installed off-site for superior quality, no odor, no mess and cleaner indoor air.

windload icon WINDLOAD CAPACITY

130 — 200 mph windloads are possible, thanks to “systems-built” quality and technology.

Precision engineering insures that every brace and fastener in a StalwartBuilt home is constructed for superior strength.

Adhesive weatherproof underlayment helps preserve structural integrity of the roof in the event of wind damage.

All home sites are individually engineered for foundation quality and stability.

engineering icon A BETTER WAY TO BUILD

Our “systems-built” method means StalwartBuilt homes are constructed in a climate-controlled environment by long-term employees with specific areas of expertise.

Category specialists perform each craft — framing, electrical, tile, cabinetry, bathrooms, finish work, etc.— in the factory, lessening the need for jobsite day laborers or subcontractors.

Computerized equipment and pneumatic tools are used to drive fasteners to precise depths—500% more fasteners than ordinary homes.

Quality-controlled factory environment keeps materials stored inside as opposed to sitting on a jobsite, exposed to the weather for months.

Material savings. By purchasing the best quality lumber, sheet rock, carpet, paint, and other materials in large quantities, our plants pay less for them.

Felt wrap and polyethylene vapor barriers in addition to the exterior wrap help keep water and moisture out.

Extra continuous drainage plain allows any water that may penetrate exterior cladding to drain out of the wall assembly.

Proper site grading also directs surface water away from building foundations and walls.

Crawlspaces or raised foundations minimize floodwater damage.

Termite Shield/Capillary Break at foundation piers adds another layer of protection to the StalwartBuilt home building envelope.

Non-paper faced sheetrock in shower and tub areas offers excellent mold and moisture resistance.

Structured Wiring is factory-installed, creating an in-home communications network that allows for multiple computers on one internet connection, a DVD played in one room to be watched on TVs in other rooms, a dozen different phone lines and more.

Faster turnaround. Instead of taking a year or more to plan and construct, StalwartBuilt homes take just 30-60 days. Upon delivery to a prepared foundation, our homes can be assembled by our trained crew and weather-sealed in a very short time.

Avoid cost overruns or surprises. With in-plant construction completed at a fixed price, there's less room for error in costing. A short build timeframe also makes cash flow more manageable and helps reduce financing costs.
