STALWARTBUILT COMMUNITIES GOING BEYOND GREEN

May 1st, 2008

Julius Poston, the man behind StalwartBuilt Homes, believes merely going green is just the beginning. He thinks builders and developments should think beyond green.

Poston has long been committed to developing superior building processes with untraditional, creative thinking and his products continue to evolve as new homebuilding products are introduced and corporate technology partners come to the table with new ideas and the extreme green building rating for StalwartBuilt Homes and sustainable communities.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System(tm) by the U.S. Green Building Council encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

Today Poston is involved in total of 18 communities including Callaway Corners in Panama City, Fla. Featuring 95 lots of workforce housing, prices begin at $159,000. Plans include the Charlotte, Savannah, Baywatch, Glen Eagle, Nashville, Richmond and Glen Carin. StalwartBuilt Homes is a Panama City-based homebuilder who is building LEED certified homes utilizing state-of-the-art building science.

The second phase of Callaway Corners is on the drawing board and will be unveiled later this year.

The homes are also affordable, quickly constructed and include the option of being "Zero Energy." Soon a resident will be moving into the first StalwartBuilt "Net Zero Energy"(NZE), solar-powered, LEED Platinum rated home in Florida, all for about $230,000, including the lot.

StalwartBuilt's remarkable Glen Cairn model was on exhibit at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders Show in Orlando. It has been moved to Waterview at Inlet Beach, an exclusive Oceanside community on the Panhandle.

Waterview at Inlet Beach is a Jeff Tucker Development in South Walton County. Planned for a spring opening the community will feature 48 homes beginning in the high $300s. Home in Waterview like the Glen Carin, are not just the more common 'Energy Star' ratings. But the much higher certification standards of the US Green Building Council's LEED program, which includes four levels, the highest being the very rare Platinum designation.

Poston's own journeys have taken him around the world, including to developing nations, where his economical building processes created housing where there was none before. Back home in Panama City his own coastal residential developments reflect an appreciation for authentic Cracker architecture, historically created in direct response to the local environment.

In East Bay, Florida Poston is working on a community close to home. Homes there will range from $399,000-$1.5 million. East Bay is a result of studying, developing and refining building techniques and technologies in an attempt to create traditional homes that are as strong and energy-efficient, as they are healthy and affordable.

StalwartBuilt Guild homebuilder, Phoenix Contracting Group, Inc. may become the first "net zero energy" LEED Platinum home in Northeast Florida and possibly St. Johns County.

"We specialize in trend-setting, eco-friendly homes, including everything from high-end custom to workforce housing throughout Florida. We are excited about the potential of the StalwartBuilt," said Rob Hamby, president of Phoenix Contracting Group.

LEED Platinum is an extremely difficult certification to achieve. Through the use of such features as photovoltaic solar cells and underground geo-thermal heating, communities that feature StalwartBuilt Homes will be able to offer buyers zero net energy costs
The homes are also designed to offer a bevy of other high performance living features, including extremely pure air and water systems, rated up to 98 percent allergen-free; and structural safety features that will protect them from extreme hurricane force winds.

"Consumers can get very excited over saving up to 100 percent on their energy bills and living in homes that are both good for their health and the health of the planet," explained Jeff Tucker, developer of Waterview at Inlet Beach. "On top of everything else, the US, state and local governments are all offering a variety of lucrative incentives for homes that incorporate solar and are built to LEED standards."

StalwartBuilt standards are extreme green:

ENERGY EFFICIENCY - StalwartBuilt communities are dedicated to lots of choices for energy-efficient living. Geothermal heating and cooling systems using the natural warmth (renewable energy) of the earth to heat and cool the home, keeping the home comfortable no matter what the weather is outside. Breakthrough foam insulation that improves air quality eliminates moisture problems and noise.

WINDLOAD CAPACITY - A StalwartBuilt homes have dramatically more fasteners than ordinary homes. Computerized equipment and pneumatic tools drive fasteners to precise depths, for tight, plumb seals for additional strength. Precision built means less materials. Stalwart Built homes are built to 130 MPH wind loads and can be engineered to withstand up to 200 MPH winds.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY - According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), indoor air can be 2-5 times more polluted than the air outdoors. Homes in Stalwart Built communities can boast an interior air quality that is 98 percent allergen-free. Honeywell, the industry leader, specifically designed the air-management system for StalwartBuilt. This advanced air cleaner captures microscopic impurities like dust, smoke and smog particles in addition to larger particles.

Other communities are coming online. SpringField Corners in Panama City is coming this fall with 79 townhomes priced in the low to mid $100s. Poston Settlement, inside East Bay with docks and boat slips will begin taking shape in the early part of 2009 with prices on 70 unique cottage plans beginning in the $300s.
