StalwartBuilt partners with GE to offer energy-efficient, high-performance homes inspired by ecomagination(SM)
May 20th, 2010
StalwartBuilt, branded Beyond Green building science, and GE are working together to develop new homes inspired by ecomagination in cooperation with the ecomagination(SM) Homebuilder Program developed by two of the most trusted names associated with homes, GE and Masco Home Services (as part of Masco"s Environments for Living® program). The agreement was announced jointly by Julius Poston, founder and president of Panama City, Fla.-based StalwartBuilt Homes, and Doug Payne, LEED AP, corporate account manager with GE Lighting, during the launch of new home construction in Pontchartrain Park, one of the first to scale communities being rebuilt in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
Innovative new homes in Pontchartrain Park are designed to reduce energy and indoor water usage - as well as emissions associated with the home - while changing the way the homeowners interact with their indoor environments.
Pontchartrain Park homes are inspired by ecomagination(SM) and utilize StalwartBuilt branded Beyond Green building science. When compared to average industry-accepted new homes they are designed to achieve:
• At least 40 percent household energy savings
• At least 30 percent savings on household indoor water consumption
• At least 40 percent reduction in emissions associated with the home
These high-performance, energy- and water-efficient homes are remarkably comfortable, designed to help homeowners reduce their utility costs and allow homeowners to track their use of energy and water. A 2007 Energy Source report states that 86 percent of recent homebuyers said they would choose an energy-efficient home over one that was not energy-efficient.
StalwartBuilt was responsible for the first zero energy home in Southeast earning the definitive credential in the green building industry -- a Platinum score from the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes rating system, making it the first single family residence in the region and only one of a few in the nation to earn this prestigious certification.
StalwartBuilt constructed the certified and licensed home in Callaway Corners, a single-family detached workforce housing development in Panama City.
Features of StalwartBuilt branded Beyond Green building science include solar panels providing energy, a "desuperheater" providing free hot water, geothermal unit for heating and air, spray foam insulation in the attic and under the house for a perfectly sealed "building envelope", high-tech air filtration system, low-E windows, sustainable bamboo flooring, Energy Star rated GE appliances, and low VOC paint.
StalwartBuilt is a building science technology company offering high quality, energy-efficient systems-built homes to developers and builders that are licensed and trained to provide consumers a true high performance home. Construction uses innovative methods, superior materials, incredible efficiency, and virtually no wasted materials.
